Story
After a long time experience working for Parisian Luxury brands, the experimental project of Permanent Vacation initiated with the simple concept of making unique clothes for friends with luxury finishing made of high quality sustainable material with an accessible price level.
Than on an unexpected journey to India, inspired and fascinated by the incredible variety of the local handcrafts and the unique, strong spirit of this vibrant country and its people, the project of Permanent Vacation started in 2017. The first pieces were made of vintage sarees in Goa during Monsoon time and progressed further in Delhi where the studio settled down.
Today the brand is based between Paris and New Delhi. We introduce traditional Indian textiles such as Khadi, Ikat, Linen, Silk and especially vintage silk and cotton sarees from all over India that we upcycle in our unisex collections.
The garments are produced under fair working conditions by best manufacturers in small workshops located in Delhi. The close collaboration between the designer and the workshops is very important to exchange ideas, stay transparent and keep a strong relation between design and the manufacturing.
We conceive mostly limited editions to maintain fine quality and uniqueness. Each garment of our collections should have a special, long life place in your ware draw and be a precious timeless item.
Creating an Indie European style influenced by urban subcultures, Permanent Vacation responds in a versatile silhouette that combines function with an effortless elegance. The fusion of nature and urban spirit of a nostalgic mind is the essence and journey of each collection.
PHILOSOPHY
No Gender
Our garments are not assigned to a specific gender. The individual that is choosing the garment should decide and style it the way it’s fusing with its personality and the gender does not matter. In a couple you can simply share your clothes to be equally unequal.
No Season
Not following the fashion calendar our collections are conceived as projects that come out whenever they are ready. Each project is a continuation of the previous, the colour themes and details emerge from the sarees that we find and the fabrics that are available in the factories. The garments are wearable during all the year and allover the globe.
No Waste
The collections are made of vintage sarees that are bought and collected from the designer while travelling trough India. Most of them are vintage sarees that are no longer worn and were stored in wardrobes of Indian ladies. We upcycle the vintage sarees to create sustainable garments, we also use dead stock fabric from factories that are remnant. With the material leftovers we produce small accessories or patchwork pieces that no fabric ends up in the trash.
